Zelatonin composition

Zelatonin Composition

The idea for perfecting the best natural sleep aid did not appear in a dream. Years of research
and development went into the contemplation, the testing and the realisation of a safe, effective
new sleep product. The formulation for Zelatonin is like a musical composition, finely crafted that
hits all the right notes.

The main player is a low dose of melatonin - Zelatonin contains 1 mg of melatonin per serving.
Many people are familiar with the idea of melatonin supplements they can purchase in drugstores or online and assume they are perfectly safe. Most are, but while melatonin products exploded on the scene, research and quality control have not always kept up. A recent study that did a broad reaching survey of North American melatonin products available over the counter found a bit of a wild west scenario. Some products had much less melatonin than advertised, while others -even lots of the same brand- varied by 465%!

Some countries like Japan and the UK do not allow melatonin sales as there are not a lot of safety studies and few long-term studies. As we have identified, another challenge to melatonin administering is the poor bioavailability of melatonin supplements taken by pill, or liquid or gummy. So much degrades in the body’s filtering system before it gets to the brain. Many supplements account for this and the low half life of melatonin by employing higher dosages.
Low dosages of melatonin have been found in studies to have a greater effect in shifting the circadian rhythms than higher dosages. Low doses are also considered to be safer. Melatonin in low doses helps with sleep onset, but what about getting through the rest of the night?

Enter, dietary tryptophan – Zelatonin contains 100 mg of food-source tryptophan from pumpkinseed flour.

This is the ingredient that rounds out your natural sleep. The efficacy of food-based tryptophan for sleep was established by Hudson et.al. in a study of a pumpkinseed flour formulation compared to a synthetic tryptophan mixture. Tryptophan in nature is an essential amino acid we need to get from food. It helps our bodies and brains with all sorts of functions and is the precursor to natural serotonin and melatonin production that keeps our moods and sleep on track. Tryptophan in nature does not get to the brain easily, however, which is where the Hudson formulation takes over. In this study, the pumpkinseed plus carbohydrate mixture was found to significantly decrease awake time and number of awakenings by 50% compared to the synthetic pill. All by coaxing natural source tryptophan from pumpkinseed flour and boosting its absorption.

Also important is Lemon Balm – Zelatonin contains 300 mg of melissa officinalis or Lemon Balm.
Lemon Balm has been used throughout history for a variety of ailments. It is only recently that modern science has taken a closer look to find out why this herb has stood the test of time. Lemon Balm has been demonstrated to be safe and effective in calming and creating an environment conducive to the onset of sleep. The European Food Safety Authority [EFSA] recognizes Lemon Balm’s relaxing qualities and its ability to help find sleep.

Next, vitamins B3 and B6 – Zelatonin contains modest amounts of these vitamins to aid the tryptophan absorption.

If the body does not already have Vitamin B3, the tryptophan reloads it. It is important that the
tryptophan not be all used up by the body for replenishing Vitamin B3 so Zelatonin adds it to keep all the natural source protein available to metabolize to the brain’s own melatonin. With Vitamin B3, Vitamin B6 this acts as a coenzyme to help the enzymes work properly.

Coming next is a more recently proven player in the natural melatonin arena, tart cherry juice. Tart cherry juice has been found to significantly elevate natural melatonin levels in a recent study.

Star Anise also makes an appearance in this unique formulation, Zelatonin. Star Anise has much older roots, having originated in China over three thousand years ago. Its medicinal properties are well known in India where it is used as a tea for many ailments including insomnia.

Taken together in a format that is instantly bioavailable, these ingredients work together to safely maximize their natural properties. Just like a melodious musical composition, the Zelatonin formulation has been carefully calibrated to unfold like a symphony of sounds and textures that converge to beautiful effect. Every element has a role to play, and every part of this great work was pulled together by skilled hands. Too bad you’re going to sleep through it!
